Jean-Pierre Thomesse, Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine - LORIA   Jean-Pierre Thomesse Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine - LORIA Jean-Pierre Thomesse  received his DEA (Postgraduate Diploma, preparation for doctoral studies) in Computer Science in 1971 from the University of Nancy (France). In 1974 he received his PhD and followed by his Doctorat d’Etat (national diploma giving the right to lead research projects) in 1980, both accorded by the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (INPL) Nancy, France.  He has been Professor at the INPL since 1981. He was an active participant in the development of the WorldFIP fieldbus which began in 1982. He was then involved in the issues of standardization. The current application of his knowledge and experience is in real time communication and embedded intelligent systems with different kinds of applications in industry, cars, building automation and health care.
