He directs a research group of five graduate students and five undergraduates that has developed an approach to information security based upon web services. His main research thrusts are sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Microsoft Research.  During his 27 years at U.Va., Dr. Weaver has been the Principal Investigator on over 120 funded research projects, has supervised over 60 Ph.D. and M.S. students, and has authored over 100 book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers.  His main research topic is information security.
