Scope:
The Committee is focused on the adoption and application of
information technology for automation systems. Topics of specific
interest are : Development Platforms and Frameworks, Specific
Programming languages, Tool chains for Software Design and
Development, Engineering and commissioning tools, Operating Systems,
Software System Security, Databases and Web Interfaces, Realtime
Mobile Computing, Network Computing, Distributed Realtime Systems,
Industrial Signal Processing
Georg Frey is leading a research group at the Technische
Universität Kaiserslautern, Germany.
His research interests include analysis of networked automation
systems using formal techniques, modeling and simulation of
distributed and embedded systems using Modelica as well as discrete
event formalisms, design processes for distributed automation
systems using UML and IEC 61499, formal design and analysis of PLC
programs based on Petri nets and model checking, and formal
techniques to evaluate the dependability of automation systems.
Dr. Frey has co-authored more than 100 papers in reviewed journals
and conference proceedings. He has supervised 4 PhD students and
more than 30 Diploma/Master students.
He is Senior Member of IEEE, further memberships in organizations
include Verband der Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik (VDE),
Gesellschaft für Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik (GMA), Deutscher
Hochschulverband.
Dr. Frey received his Dipl.-Ing. Degree in Electrical and Computer
Engineering from the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) in 1996 and his PhD
degree (Dr.-Ing.) from Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in
2002, respectively.

Juergen
Jasperneite studied electrical engineering at the Lippe
University of Applied Sciences (Dipl.-Ing. 1988) and at the
Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg/Germany as a doctoral
student from 199 9- 2002. He received his doctorate degree (Dr.-Ing.)
in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the
Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg/Germany in 2002.
From 1988 – 1989 he was with Bosch Telecom, Berlin, as a
R&D-Engineer in the field of GSM technology. From 1989 to 2005 he
was with Phoenix Contact in different positions, starting as an ASIC-Engineer
for industrial communication systems and finally as the Head of the
R&D-Department of the Business Unit Automation Systems.
Since 2005 he is a full professor for Computer Networks at the
OWL University of Applied Sciences in Lemgo/Germany.
From the end of 2006 he is the speaker of the Excellence platform
Industrial IT of the state of North-Rhine-Westphalia. Since the
beginning of 2007 he becomes the director of the Institute for
Industrial Information Technologies (inIT –Institute Industrial IT).
Juergen Jasperneite is an IEEE Senior Member since 2006 and
Author/Co-Author of more than 70 technical papers. He served as a
member or reviewer for a lot of scientific conferences and journals.
Recently he served as a Track Co-Chair at the ETFA2008 and as an
Industry Day and Panel Discussion Co-Chairmen at the WFCS2008.
His current research interests are modelling, testing and evaluating
of Realtime Communication Systems, especially in the field of
industrial automation.
